What you will Learn

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) consists of two sub- courses; the PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course and the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Program. The first part of the PADI IDC is the AI Course, in which you develop instructional skills for knowledge development, confined water and open water. Completing the AI Course will qualify you to conduct certain programs independently, and be a more qualified assistant in others. Next, you’ll move onto the OWSI Program. You’ll further refine your teaching skills, and apply them across the full range of programs that a PADI OWSI can conduct. You’ll also be introduced to topics on PADI standards and procedures, the business of diving, risk management and other areas that will assist you to become a professional dive instructor.

Many of our candidates choose to tackle the PADI IDC as single program. Others elect to complete the IDC in 2 parts. We cater for either approach, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Our full PADI IDCs are conducted over 7 days to give you the chance to learn at a comfortable pace, and to practice as much as possible.

As Lets Go Adventures recognises that experience is just as crucial as quality training we invite all Instructor candidates who have booked their IDC with us to participate in our preparation & mentor program. Assisting some of our highly qualified and experienced Instructional team, you will have the opportunity to refine your inwater and supervisory skills as well as refreshing your theory. Of course this means you will also have to dive with us in some of the stunning sites of our area. (Yes studying does not have to be boring!) Once you have qualified we also invite you to team teach programs to assist you to gain experience while still having mentorship available to you.

BONUS Specialty Course:

Complete your PADI IDC with Lets Go Adventures and receive a The AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty Instructor course for FREE*. This will give you an additional qualification once you successfully complete your IE, count towards the rating required to become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT), but most importantly allow you to contribute towards the conservation of sharks by building awareness of the issues and inspiring students to learn more about these amazing creatures

IDC/AI Prerequisites:

• Dive Leader certification – PADI Divemaster or leadership level certification.
• 18 years old. 
• Medical Statement attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months. 
• Certified diver for 6 months 
• EFR Primary & Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months. 
• If not a PADI Divemaster, complete the PADI Divemaster Course rescue skills assessment.
• Submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry level, advanced, rescue & leadership level, as necessary.

OWSI program Prerequisites:

• Meet all IDC/AI Course Prerequisites
• PADI AI or current instructor member in good standing with a recognised recreational diver training organization for at least 6 months.

Please Note: Prior to certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you’ll need to provide a copy of your certification as an Instructor of first aid and CPR. If you aren’t yet an instructor of first aid/ CPR, we offer the Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor Course.

Special Upgrade Options:

PADI Dive Theory Online (Usually USD$110).  If you have not completed your dive theory online within 12 months this an essential program to complete prior to your IDC. PADI dive theory online contains six sections that cover dive physics, physiology, equipment, skills, environmental considerations and the Recreational Dive Planner. The course presents content in easy-to-learn segments followed by study questions that allow eLearners to confirm their understanding before moving on. Graphics, photos, video and animations help cement understanding, while end-of-section questions verify the eLearner’s mastery of the entire topic.

Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor. EFR provides first aid and CPR training programs for the lay provider. As an EFR Instructor you’ll be able to teach programs that meet the latest international guidelines for basic life support: EFR Primary Care (CPR) EFR Secondary Care (first aid) EFR Care for Children EFR CPR&AED. Program includes EFR Instructor start up pack. BONUS Candidates who complete both a PADI IDC and an EFR Instructor Course at Lets Go Adventures will receive a FREE PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty Instructor Course*.
