Schooling Eagle Rays! – 28 May 14

What a brilliant weekend! We had a group up from Dive Centre Bondi and did some amazing diving with them! Saturday they went out to Broughton Island and had 2 great dives with the Grey Nurse sharks, then Jim, Jake and Cherie took the whole group on a night dive to pipeline! Then on Sunday we got to take them to The Oakland/Little Wreck and then to Gov. Wharf in the afternoon where we were extremely lucky to see a group of schooling bat rays! How awesome is that?!

Jess and her deep course went to the Adelaide on the weekend and had two very nice dives on the wreck! Congratulations on completing your course guys! Very well done!

The photo above is of Jake in his pink highlighted fins blowing bubbles – can you believe he thinks this is work? If you would like a job like this come have a chat to us about our next PADI Instructor Development course in July.

Our Tec diver course is beginning this Friday, so the countdown is on for Vanuatu is on! Less than a month left before Horrie and crew leave!

 MARINE ESTATE COMMUNITY SURVEY
On 7 May 2014 the Marine Estate Management Authority released initial findings from a statewide survey that aims to find out how the NSW community and visitors to the coast view the marine estate – which includes our ocean, estuaries, coastal wetlands, coastline and coastal lakes and lagoons.
The Authority is now seeking feedback from you, the community, on these initial findings about the values, benefits, threats and opportunities for the marine estate. The Authority wants to understand what you really think about the marine estate, which is such a valuable asset to the people of NSW.
The initial findings are from interviews with 36 key marine estate interest groups and 70 community members from 7 regional focus groups conducted across NSW. A summary report is available to download from www.marine.nsw.gov.au/key-initiatives/marine-estate-community-survey for you to review, and the online survey is also available at this link so that you can easily add your views and ideas and have your say.
Survey results will be used to inform decision-making for future marine estate reform initiatives including the proposed Marine Estate Management Act and Regulations, threat and risk assessment processes, Marine Estate Management Strategy and new management plans for marine parks.
