Lets Go Diving-31Jan13 News

I’m sure you will all agree that the water has been pretty special this summer. We have thoroughly enjoyed warm waters with clear visibility and calm seas. It has only been the last week that Mother Nature has turned on us, bringing wild winds and wet weather. Nevertheless we have had a great summer and there is still more to come. Tides this weekend are in the middle of the day, so you get to sleep in have a great dive then enjoy a leisurely summer afternoon!

Firstly we would like to send a HUGE congratulations out to Jimmy Dodd. He has just passed his PADI IE (instructor exam) and we are all over the moon. He has worked extremely hard and we are very proud of him. We are also pleased to announce that over the Christmas break we also qualified Jake Miller as a PADI Divemaster, after a couple of months of hard work.

As we start the new year many of you have set personal goals for yourself. Learning new skills and becoming more proactive with your diving may have been one of them. Some of the courses we have coming up include an Advanced Open Water (9-10th Feb), Rescue Diver (9th Feb) and Enriched Air course (17th Feb). We have a vast range of courses to suit your needs; check out our course dates below or click here for more detail about courses we have available.

If getting back into the water is more of a priority for you be sure to take advantage of all the benefits of the Narki Gnome dive club, including free airfils, reduced rates on Nitrox and the free buddy service by renewing your yearly dive club membership. You can do this in store or on line.

We are collaborating with local divers and dive shops to raise money for a much needed cause. It will be held at Swansea Channel on Sunday the 24th February. We encourage both divers and non-divers to come along and participate. If you wish to be part of the diving crew please confirm with us this week as there are only limited dive positions available, the cost is $30. It is recommended those who want to dive have a minimum of an Advanced Open Water certification, however all welcome to come down and support the cause. See this facebook event for more details.

OAKLAND Double dive Fundraiser

As divers we all know the dangers of sun exposure. Recently, one of our local Senior Aircrew man Hunter Region Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has had surgery to remove a cancerous melanoma from his shoulder. Following the removal, further surgery was necessary to remove lymph nodes from his neck and under his arm. On March 9th, in conjunction with Hunter Region Westpac Helicopter Service, we will hosting dive day and BBQ to raise some much needed funds to assist with his recovery. On the day, at 8:00am, a tec-diving boat (Limit 8 divers) will depart the Dalbora marina for the wreck of the Oakland for a semi tech dive, run time determined on the day. At 9:00am there will be a second dive boat departing Dalbora Marina, for a double dive on Oakland wreck. We urge all divers to get involved. You can book online next week or through our shop. See this facebook event for more detail.
