Diving Truk Lagoon June 2013

By Kath

Truk Lagoon is Wreck Rat Heaven! I like it so much I have been three times. We escaped to Truk in June with a great group of people. We had 30 Degree water, at least 25 metres visibility and some of the best wreck diving in the world.

Imagine descending down the mooring line onto a Japanese Destroyer and being buzzed by a massive school of dolphins – now that is cool.

My favourite dive was the San Fransisco Maru with the Japanese battle tanks on the deck, land mines and munitions in the holds and the Steam Roller on the sand off the port side. Many know about Truk because of the deep Tec dives, but some of the shallow wrecks are just as amazing making this a great diving location for all cert levels. In fact while we were there, Casey and Jack did their Advanced Open Water Course and Chris finished his Nitrox Course.
It was great to see Pete tick off another item from his 100 things to do list, and to share some good laughs and dive memories with some favourite and some new dive buddies. We had such a good time we are going to go again – do you want to come?
Have a look at some of the fun we had on our Truk Youtube clip.
